Multi-directional Competition
Traditional telecommunications companies face competition from broadband providers and competition from wireless providers. If one-dimensional companies don't position them-selves to benefit from a united communications package, then they could be distracted by the numerous competitors in the different areas of their business. When a company dilutes their strengths, they can lose focus in both areas. Even if their are synergies between the wireless and broadband customers, their must compete against cable companies, which can provide three key customer services (TV, broadband and phone) against any company, which only offers two services.
