Tourism Increasing

Turkey over the past 20 years has seen an increasingly interest in tourism.

"Tourism in Turkey is focused largely on a variety of archaeological and historical sites, and on seaside resorts along its Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. In the recent years, Turkey has also becoming a popular destination for culture, spa, and health care tourism.The tourism sector has experienced rapid growth in the last twenty years, and constitutes an important part of the economy. In 2008, there were 30,929,192 visitors to the country, who contributed $21.9 billion to Turkey's revenues."

Tourism is an effective way of redistributing wealth into local economies from other parts of the country and overseas. It also provides foreign currency into an economy, which helps to stabilize global economic swings.
