Company Description: Alpha Natural Resources, an Appalachian coal supplier, produces, processes and sells steam and metallurgical coal from eight regional business units supported by 32 active underground mines, 26 active surface mines and 11 preparation plants by the end of 2007. It also purchases and resells coal mined by others. On December 28, 2006, Alphas subsidiary, Palladian Lime, LLC acquired a 94% ownership interest in Gallatin Materials LLC. On June 29, 2007, it acquired coal mining assets in West Virginia from Arch Coal, Inc. aka Mingo Logan. Update
